My dash lights on my 96 Sentra stopped working the other day. I figured it was a fuse but there is no fuse listed for dash lights and all the fuses in the box are good (I pulled them all to check). My interior light still works, but the gauge cluster, hvac controls, and the gear indicator wont come on.

Anyone have any ideas where to look? The radio still dims with the lights being turned on. The dimmer switch does feel loose, not sure if that could be causing it, I wasn't using the dimmer when they stopped working. Thanks in advance for any help.

probably the dimmer. Are you comfortable jumping wires in the connector attached to the dimmer? If so I will pull up the diagram and tell you what wires to jump to be sure.

That's a function of the light circuit.Quote » The dimmer switch does feel loose[/quote]There's your trouble. Contact cleaner may fix it, but it's probably from a tired wiper contact.

Yeah it appears to be the dimmer switch. I was jiggling it while rotating the knob and the lights came on. I'm happy with that for now. I'll worry about it more when that doesn't work anymore. Thanks for all your help.
