how can a 1996+ s14 w/ an sr20 pass the emissions test? I heard they have ECU.

s14 is a car, not an engine. You mean an s14 sr20det? Some people pass, others do not (this is the same w/ any sr20det swaps). As for the ECU, they all come with them. Weird question.

You really need to search around this forum. There are so many answers to your questions, its not even funny. I would also suggest, if you know little to nothing about cars (seems that way), you may not want to get into a project like this. Try buying a new car. If you insist on going through with it, find a good shop to guide you through the whole thing. Even when it's done, you'll run into problems that if you have no mechanical knowledge, you'll have to pay someone to fix and since the motor is not stock, you can't pull into nissan and say, hey whats wrong with my car. Maybe a turbo'd KA would be better for you if you insist on modifying your 240.
