1996 Q w/198,000 miles. Problem: Check engine light on, and the OD light flashes upon start up. Code p0745 shows up which is line pressure solenoid problem. Hard shift from 1>2.
Replaced the VSS, replaced transmission solenoid pack, the cluster is OK and cruise control works like it should. Problem remains.

I've gotten some info that the problem may be located in two splices in the wiring harness, BUT I'm not convinced that one or both of the splices failed - after all the harness was tested at the factory prior to installation, the wires are bundled and wrapped and show no abrasions or deterioration's or injury. It is "possible" that the splices failed due to vibrations over the 198,000 miles, but I think that may be a reach.

Any insights would be gratefully appreciated. Smokey

EUREKA!!!! We found the answer! The hard 1>2 shift + the constant check engine light + (at start up) the flashing over drive light were symptoms generated by a bad TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM). For those of you who have 93-98 Quests or Villagers (same vehicle) the TCM is located on the driver's side above and to the right of the steering column inside the dash. To access remove the knee bolster (it pops out when you remove the plastic screws on the bottom), then remove the molded steel plate so that you can see up into the dash. You'll need to lay on your back on the floor between the brake pedal and the driver's seat to see the TCM. There three 10mm bolts to tackle - the center one holds the harness connector into the TCM and the other two hold the TCM in a slot in the dash. TCM's hardly ever go out, but if you have to replace yours be sure to get one from the same year as your rig. Good luck.
