Hey guys......The driver side window on my 1996 Q is stuck down NOT because of the motor, but because of the rope or pulley or whatever is used to hold the window and control it. If any of you have any ideas of where to buy the part for it or if any of you are selling one that would be great!

I'm probably not going to put it in myself because I don't want to ruin the inside of the door in the process, so I'll leave it to a professional.

Also, while on the topic of my Q, it takes about 1.5 seconds for her to fully start, it cranks and cranks for a few seconds and then she starts and it's good from there. I am planning on charging the battery tomorrow and if that doesn't fix it, maybe get a new one? I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem and was able to fix it or if you have any ideas on what it might be? It doesn't seem to affect the performance at all, but it is a little embarrassing to be in a good looking car and have it sound like that when starting up....

Thanks guys.

Well, the battery is definitely worth a look. Have you ever run a scan?

Thanks, I'll definitely give them a call. And no I have not run a scan yet, my father has a battery charger that shows the charge level in the battery, so I'm going to plug it in tonight and see how much juice it's got.

I'll report back in a few hours....

You need a window regulator. IIRC they're about $150 from our sponsor or you can take your chances with a 15 year old used one. If you go used clean it up before installing. With the motor removed the bar that holds the window should slide up and down freely.

I just checked the battery and it was still in the green. I charged it for a about an hour and it made a small but worthwhile improvement in starting it (it probably took about .3 seconds off of the time it takes for the starter to kick in.)

And for the window issue, I was told from the original owner that it was the nylon pulley that was causing the problem. Would I need to go buy a whole regulator kit or do they just sell the nylon pulley? I'll keep looking online but let me know if any of you are selling one.

~Thanks

Theres actually an upgraded regulator that the dealer offers. The OEM part was plastic, and the new replacement part you get from infiniti is metal..

I'd just get a new regulator, especially a drivers side one. The other ones you might be OK on used since those windows arent used as often..

I was planning on going to a junkyard and picking the piece out of an older one, but since you informed me of this, I may have changed my mind. Thanks for the heads up.

For the battery issue... brushing the battery terminals, insides of the cable terminals and sanding/cleaning the starter solenoid terminals has made a world of difference for me in battery power and looong start-up delays... but it doesn't seem mine was as bad as you say yours is.
