I have recently purchased a 1996 Q45 from Manhiem Auction. The driver window does not work w/ the switch and will fall down if a bump is rolled over @ high speed. How do you reconnect the window with the motor? I can hear the motor working when the window switch is pressed. So I take the door panel off and reach in to see if i can reconnect, but the wire coming from the motor is mangled. How do I proceed?

This is my second Q45. Sold the first one('94) when injector replacement yielded a horrible knock.

You're correct that the door panel will need to come off first and then you'll need to remove the regulator (sliding cable assembly) out of the door. Chances are a cable attachment is broke or the cable itself is broken/frayed/off track and the entire assembly will need to be replaced. You can buy a 12-17 year old used one that will eventually have the same problem or a new one from IOS for about $140.

You'll be removing all the 10mm bolts on the door face except the 2 or 3 for the door lock actuator. Roll the window down to where you can get a wrench onthe two bolts that attach it to the regulator. It's a knuckle buster if the window is fully up.

Pages BT-9 and BT-9 of your FSM have good instructions for removing the panel and regulator. Good luck.

Thanx man I really appreciate this good advice. The next problem is the power steering goes in and out. I see no leaks or nothing around the housing and it is full. The fluid is clear. Can you explain or shoot me in the right direction for this problem.

Can you show me the 10mm bolts that I need to unscrew to get to the motor? Thanx in advance.

I'm not too good with photoshop but this picture should help. On the rail are 4 bolts (yellow tees) and on the right are the 3 bolts holding in the motor. These are visible on the door with the panel removed. Inside the door are the two window bolts (red tees) and you'll want to lower the window about 1/2 way and loosen these first. Once you get all 9 bolts removed the whole assembly will pull out through the rectangular opening in the door. Careful of the window dropping when you remove the two bolts holding it to the rail.
