does anyone know where the production numbers for the Q could be found? searched here, searched there, searched all around the web.

I remember hearing around 5800? I have #2218

It's nice having one of only 5900 - the rarest G50.

#3232. i guess that explains (partially) the lack of used parts availability. what happens to vehicles that do not get sold? this must occasionally happen to some brands. anyone know?

They get shifted around between dealers until they go. Not sure what happens after that.

The 2002 Mazda 626 was still being sold as of as 2006. 2002 Q45s, at least as of last year, were still sitting on dealer lots.

Brand new Oldsmobiles still exist two years after production ended.

Wow... that would be fun having an '02 with a full warranty starting with an in service date in 2006. I would buy one if the dealership would take enough of a hit... but if they'd do that it probably wouldn't be there.
