So i leave my house, omw to work and after 30 miles of driving..my car starts to buck/jerk while im driving at 60 mph to the point my car turns off. i can start it back up again but it won't take off like its suppose to, it'll buck/jerk & cut off again. I took it to a mechanic and he put it on the machine but the only code came up was a speed sensor. he test drove it with a machine hooked up to it to monitor the fuel pressure & he said that was fine. 45 when driving, 35 while idle. He said he couldn't fix it because when he drove my car it wouldn't buck/jerk for him. :wtf2: If fill my gas tank & put fuel injector, it wouldn't do it until it gets almost on E. I've had my gas tank taken off to remove hazardous waste, replace my fuel filter, change spark plugs & wires (old plugs had oil leaking on it bcause value cover was cracked). PLEASE HELP!! :(

Just so I understand this, are you saying it only does this when the car is close to E?

I think we're on the same page. If this is the case ^ and the car runs fine when the tank is not almost empty, then you're looking at fuel starvation. The cure is not letting the gas level get so low. If it happens at times other than just when your tank is almost empty, then perhaps it might be time for a new fuel filter. It's always better to avoid letting an old car's fuel level get so low on fuel, as a higher concentration of small debris that collects at the bottom over the years can get sucked up and begin clogging your fuel filter. I'd suggest starting there as it's easy and cheap to replace.

but i already had my gas tank cleaned out & put a new fuel filter on it & it still does it. I had to tow my car off Rt. 288 because it was bucking/jerking so bad i couldnt drive it.

Hmmm. My old S13 had one of those cheap charcoal elements that eventually went bad after 140K miles, and that caused the engine to run badly. I wonder if your Sentra has the same thing.

I suggest not letting the gas get low.

Alot of late 90s cars (atleast that Ive owned) suffer from fuel starvation when on low gas because of which side the fuel pump was on. Turning right would swing the gas in that tank to the left, which would starve the pump that sits on the right hand side. Almost died on a exit ramp on time. Check for coolant on your spark plugs too. No misfire codes?
