Check all the connections related to the components you have replaced. Also, check the fuel pump fuse which you probably pulled out before replacing the fuel filter. And as always, check the battery connections are clean and tight, no corrosion, and battery voltage is >12.5 VDC.

Thanks. We checked all the connections, but I'm not sure about the fuse so' I'll check that. We bought a new battery and put that in good and tight too. Thanks again... back to the drawing board today.

Yes, the car turns over just fine. We can hears the fuel pump working and we have checked and double-checked every connecting hose, plug and wire. We went back to the store to exchange our 'premium' spark plugs with the manufacturers suggested standard (titanium) plugs, but that did no help. We're really at a loss for what to do. Our thinking now is to rent a scanner from autozone and then check the codes it brings up online. Any other ideas?

Ya definitly check for faults and your also better off with OEM plugs anyway. Have you checked fuel/spark? Check all the fuses...

We got a scanner and it gave us code P0110 which is apparently tripped by a ambient air temp sensor so we will try to clean the part nad connection and replace the part of needed. Still trying to make sure which part we need to get for replacement (1996 Nissan Maxima SE) and what the best price may be. Thanks all. Will update later.

Maybe just a loose/dirty connection. Clean and then apply dielectric grease. Refer to the link below for description and location.

We cleaned and re-fit just about all the connections one everything, but It was indeed a bad IAT sensor that was the problem. We went and bought a new one, installed it, and it fired right up. Now I just have to figure out where that other little thingamajiggy goes and reset the check engine light and we should be good to go! Thanks all for the help.
