I have a 1996 Maxima that I use as a beater for the winter. It was running fine until a couple of months ago. The problem is -- I can't drop it to first or second gear. The other gears work fine but I would like to remedy this before the snow starts.

I don't want to spend a lot of money on it [broke college student]. Its either I get a used transmission or rebuild the one I have.

I'm going to assume and say that rebuilding would cost me more then buying a used transmission and slapping it on.

I have an open transmission, If I get a locking one, would it be plug in play or do I have to buy matching parts for it?

Thanks. :]

A trans number ending with(A)is open.(V) is viscous limited slip. The axles must be changed when swapping.
