I was getting error code 1005 and 1008. 1005 is the EGR Solenoid Valve and the 1008 is for the EVAP Canister. I replaced both and the Check Engine light keeps coming back on. But this time it is just the 1008 code. Does it take a while for the fumes to absorb out of the vehicle before it stops going off? Did I not hook up the Canister right?

UPDATE****

I reset the Brain and drove it again. It drove fine. Upon starting it for a second time, within 5 minutes the Check Engine Light came on. The codes now are 1008 EVAP Canister and 0302 which says Insufficient or Excessive EGR flow. Could this be the system trying to flush itself out?? I had the Check Engine Light on for a few weeks before fixing and think it just might be overloaded with fumes.

NOTE: THis was the first time I got the 0302 code. This is what was happening.

Igot the 1008 and 1005 codes. I replaced just the canister. After a few resets it kept trowing the same codes. I replaced the solenoid today and the first time it went off was for the 0302 and 1008. Not the 1005 which must be fixed when I replaced the solenoid.

Thanks

have you checked over the vac lines for the egr and have you tried cleaning out the egr lines?

What should I clean them out with? I was thinking I could buy some new hoses and replace. The car is 10 years old.

the egr and the pipe that's coming off it from the exhaust side could be clogged with carbon deposits. a screw driver and a some brake cleaner will usually do the trick. you can try using some seafoam and see if that'll do the job but if you've got buildup/blockage enough to trip the check engine light, I'd take a screwdriver and brake cleaner to the pipe and the innards of the egr where it meets up to the intake
