So I get this car yesterday with 67k miles, and there is a water leak in the rear passenger side. Guess my mechanic missed that area when he checked the car out. The carpet is all damp but nothing else. I have the GLE model so maybe the sunroof leaks? I did notice small water spots on the passenger seat at well when I found the damp carpet. Any idea where this could be coming from? HELP ME OUT!!!! THANKKSS!!!!

It could be the sunroof needs to be adjusted. It could be the heater core is bad. It could be that there is a leak around the windshield or the cowl. Only way to really tell for sure is get out the hose and try to see where the water is coming from.

your heater core most likly has a leak. if you dont car about having heat in the car you can bypass it.

A heater core leak should affect the front, not the rear passenger area. Besides, you can easily distinguish the smell coolant from water. Was it raining when you had this problem? If so, it must be the weatherstripping of your sunroof (assuming the windows are fully closed). You cannot blame your mechanics if he missed it. Check for water spots/stains around the sunroof opening. Do as what Max said and hose down the roof of you car. If no leak is evident, then spray water on the windows and rear glass.

Another possibility is that the previous owner had installed an after-market amplifier, speakers and/or sub-woofer. Such modification usually entails drilling holes on the firewall or other parts of the frame to accommodate the power feed and speaker wires. If not insulated and sealed properly, water could seep thru the holes and end up in the cabin.
