I'm at my wits end-any help is appreciated

1996 240sx stock ka24de 5spd

Timing at 20 degrees btdc, the car idles very smooth.it is difficult to start-need to crank it over for about 5 seconds before it catches.

Checked the MAF, getting 1.5v at idle, increased to 3v+ at 4k rpm.TPS voltage checked ok. MAP checked ok. Front and Rear O2 sensors checked ok. New fuel filter, 35psi on the gauge. New plugs and rotor.

If I SLOWLY increase the throttle, the car will go to 4k+ no problem. But if I try ANY aggresive throttle, it will bog, then die.If I increase the timing to 40+, I can drive it around the block, but now it will not idle(surges between 300-1000), and it has a big miss. I could limp it to the dealership for a $95 diagnosis. My scan tool is pulling NO codes, and the CEL is not lit (if I pull the MAF, it lights and kicks a code, so I know it is working)

Printed out the service manual and have checked everything except:ignition module, internal coil, crank sensor, and IACAm I getting closer? Could the MAF cause this even though it is showing valid values when I'm testing it?

Thank you for any help!!!Shawn

Several things to check:1 - Check the air regulator which is located on the passenger's side of the engine, near the back, below the intake manifold. When the engine is cold, the air regulator allows additional air to flow to the engine thus allowing easier starting.2 - The fuel pressure may be insufficient.3 - Check the IACV valve.4 - Check for a vacuum leak.

fyiCar fixed!

Replaced the distributor and it now runs beautifully. Either a bad camshaft sensor or internal coil. No one in San Diego carries the parts,so ordered a complete remanufactured unit from LA.

Is it just me or are parts for this car impossible to find in stock? Each time I need something I call Kragen/Pep Boys/Napa/Worldwide/Nissan Dealer and they all have to special order the parts from some other state.

I installed a long block engine replacement from japanengine.com

Driving it now is like driving it when it was new-it has the old power again! Forgot how quick it used to feel. Now to replace the clutch and struts and drive it for another 160k!
