You already have an existing problem. Fix that first and then move on to the second issue. Everything in this car works in synchronicity. All sensors talk to the computer, and based on that, the computer talks back. If you have a bad sensor, it equals bad info, which in turn can equal bad feedback from the computer. I just resolved an issue with a knock sensor on a maxima where the sensor failed open.. it told the computer it was on, yet, it was giving no data. The result was poor driveability..and yes it can affect the drivetrain as well. Imagine an engine retarding when you are stepping on the gas and deciding to speed up expecting a gear change only to get a flat response while the transmission tries to make up it's mind. Fix the knock sensor issue first..that might resolve your transmission issue.peaceman34 wrote:Thanks for the insight. I am having trouble with a knock sensor. The engine come on every now and then. It acually came on when the transmission mechanic was driving the car.
