One morning about a month ago, I went to start the car and it wouldnt start. the interior lights were very dim and the headlights wouldnt work. I figured the battery was dead. I took the battery to Autozone and they said the battery was fine but nevertheless because it was covered under warranty they gave me a new one. After switching the batteries, the car worked fine.

Last week my brother was driving home on the highway and the break light and battery light lit up on the dashboard. We weren't sure what was happening, but I thought possibly the alternator. He took it again yesterday and while driving the car died out. His friend came and gave him a boost and he was able to drive down the block to our garage and there it died out again.

Is this most likely the alternator or any problems with the ECM not giving enough power to the alternator? (keep in mind what happened to me amonth ago with the battery? Please help. Thanks.

Sounds like the alternator. Use a multimeter to determine if it's charging correctly. Alternatively, have you had any belt squeal? Old belts can slip and cause the alternator not to properly charge as well.
