so the troubles list short and odd

>>rpm gauge jumps sporadically and doesn't reflect actual engine activity. At normal idle of engine it bounces around between 6 and 8 radically.

>>remember i said idle? Yep, cuz that's all it does. If the gas pedal is touched to rev up instead it does the exact opposite and the engine bogs down until it stalls. It will however start right back up no issues and continue doing the only thing is able to do.

>>save for the cruise control not responding or the a/c buttons that interact when they feel like it, the only other item worth mentioning is that sometimes i can smell gas while sitting in the passenger seat with the door open. I try to smell it under the hood but nothing.

then the list of things done so far

>>replaced MAF sensor.

>>catalytic converter welded on by professional.

>>all general maintenance up to date.

now to the part where I'm just stumped. does this make you think of anything other than jumping up and down on the hood?

New battery in it now. Had the alternator tested and is fine. Could someone else please offer up any ideas on this? I'm stumped on what could be causing it to do these things. It seems mechanically sound, but something electrical had got to be malfunctioning. Help?

Okay so just to keep it from completely dieing in my yard I charged the battery and fought with it for ten minutes to convince it to start. Once it started out would still only idle, if I touched the throttle even an half inch it would instantly die. After testing that theory a couple times I left it set idling for almost two hours (since it wasn't overheating after 20 minutes of standing by it). When I came back of to check it was no longer running and I thought the worst, but hopped in and it started right up and revved like nothing was wrong at all. It had been in the same spot untouched for Damm near 8 months, but now after two hours of idling it just stood up and peeled out across my yard like I was imagining things! What in the hell is going on with this thing?
