Hello members of this forum,

I have a 1996 infiniti g20 and I'm pretty sure the brake light switch is bad. All 3 of my brake lights (two side ones and the top mounted one) used to work when I last checked and I recently found out that they are all out. I read many different posts and watched many videos but none were for my specific car so the placements were all different.

I can't figure out which one is the ASCD and which one is the brake light switch. I also can't even fit my hand in there to twist it off, anyone have any suggestions?

I haven't looked for this myself, but I would definitely look through the factory service manual, you should be able to find the answer in there. If you don't have a copy, click the link in my signature to download one. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. My problem is that I can't exactly fit my hand in there to twist it off, but I'll definitely look in the repair manual again to see if I missed anything.

Which exact section should I look at? I always look at the brake section but that doesn't have anything about the switch. Also, I found that this is related to my shifter being stuck in park. I'm pretty sure it's just a faulty switch because sometimes it isn't stuck in park but other times it is while the brake lights do work. Basically my lights sometime work and sometime doesn't work.

I would think to look in the electrical sections, but I could be wrong (I have been plenty of times, ha ha). It definitely sounds like you have some electrical gremlins though.
