A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I just finished changing the clutch on my g20, put everything back together, and parked if for the night with a piece of cardboard under it. Checked it the next morning and theres a large pool of transmission fluid.

Checked it out and it's leaking from where the right (passenger side) driveshaft goes into the transmission. It looks to me like its all the way in and since that's the one with the mount halfway down, I would think that the mount would not bolt in if the driveshaft is not all the way in.

Any idea why it's leaking or any way I can check that the driveshaft is all the way in?

If its leakin from there and the car is all put back together, you probably need a new axle seal on that side.

You need to drain transmission fluid and remove the axle. Once the axle is out you can remove the seal and put in a new one.

thanks for the help guys, just one more question. is the seal going to come out with the driveshaft or will it stay in the transmission?

It will stay in the transmission, remove it with a screw driver. Be sure to set the new one flush and evenly. I would use a socket that is the same size as the seals outter edge and lightly tap it in. Be careful when putting the axle back in so you don't damage the inside of the seal.

finally finished this after many delays. thanks for the help guys. Just want to add a couple more tips if anyone has to do this on a g20.- to push the seal in, you can use a socket that is exactly the same size as the outside of the seal. do not push on the inside part of it. you can also use a piece of flat wood to get it started.- do not push the seal in as far as possible. only push it in enough so that about 1/8in. of the inside of the transmission is showing.

thats about it.
