Your going for land speed...there is nothing wrong with that. Some of the guys on here do track racing, so that sees plenty of abuse if not more than the salt flats.
If you do not like the two piece drive shaft, look up shaftmasters, they are a vendor on here, they can set you up with a one piece. Well worth it as again most of us have one on here. For gears contact Specialty Z, they may know where you could get taller gears for the rear end. Below are links for vendors that deal with Z32's. Good luck to you!
