I'm buying a 1996 300ZX N/A 2+2 that has a trashed driver's seat. The rear support is broken on both sides and causes it to sink to the floor when you sit in it. Anyone know where I can get either original or after-market seats that are worth the $? I live in Chicago, IL.

I've priced it to be fixed by a local shop and they want $200 just to R2 the seat and weld the piece back together. Absurd in my opinion.

I need them to be cloth and closely resemble the color of the interior (dark grey/charcoal).

I found some racing-style seats on eBay for $50 a pair with $140 shipping but I'm not sure what they'll sit like and if they're crappy. I sat in one 300ZX where the guy put the "Nizmo" brand racing seats in it and it sat way too low--I didn't like it. I want to retain a similar seat height as the original.

My original driver seat is power but I really don't care about the power features. I think the prginal passenger is manual.

The eBay ad mentions something getting the hardware from some other manufacturer but I was unable to locate what I need, and even be sure what I needed to begin with.

Here is a link to the eBay seats I've found so far:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AITh ... rs...%3AIT

Do not buy cheap no name seats off of ebay. Do you trust them not to break if in an accident? I wouldn't put my life in $25 a piece POS seats.

You get what you pay for. Buy something quality like Sparco, Bride, etc. If you can't afford those pick up a set of factory seats for cheap from a salvage yard.

I got a 2+2, Charcoal tweed, milwaukee, I want to trade out my seats for some other ones so if you want mine just give me something decent for em thats fine by me.

All power works on em, nothing broken. My passenger seat is like not used a little discoloring. The driver's seat is a little discolored with some tear (not all the way through).

Email me or IM me or something if your interested

I took the seat out and repaired the rear frame member that was broken. Now it doesn't sag to the floor when you sit in it. What I couldn't figure out was why the rear right lift feature was not fully working. It's not the switch because when I press "up" the rear left goes up leaving the rear right all the way down. It's as if the motor-to-bracket link on that side is broken or something? I couldn't see any defects with it. Anyone have this happen and/or fix it?

thanks,Chris

Well if the linkage is not visibly damaged, it could be stripped from use at or inside a motor. If you sit in the seat and adjust the seat it takes longer than if you would adjust with no weight on it. More stress on the linkage and motors with the increasing amount of weight. As for narrowing it, all I can say is pull and push the linkage to the motors to see if there is any give or if holding with certain tension that will allow it to operate (assuming you pulling and pushing will link things like broken teeth or parts in the motors and mechanisms)

Personally I have not had to take my seats apart, but I will be removing them to sell them and if I find anything further to help ID the problem from looking at the motors n such I will let you guys know
