1996 300zx bogging

1996 300zx 2+0 automatic non turbo. Car starts and runs and drives but sometimes the gas starts bogging and rpm’s get stuck then other times it runs fines . I’m thinking it’s the fuel pump and also I can’t read how much gas the car has is there a way to check the fuel gauge reader or should I replace it?
