Does anyone know how a Nissan 240SX matches up to a car like an Integra? same year and no modifications.

acceleration/top speed ?

I'm trying to figure out how fast they are compared to other cars.I don't own a 240SX but possibly might in the not to distant future. I just need to get a feeling of how fast they are. I'm considering either a 1996 Nissan 240SX SE, 1996 Acura Integra LS, 1996 Toyota Celica GT, 1996 Honda Prelude Si

can anyone help me get a better understanding on where the Nissan 240SX SE stands amongst the others?

Welll.............. out of the four cars that you have right there i would have to say that the Prelude is the fastest STOCK car in the lineup. But the one that has the most potential... i would say go with the 240. The Prelude, Integra, and Celica are good cars..... but you have to build the bottom end. If I could give you a suggestion.... i would say go with a 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo. They are good reliable cars... and stock would be faster than any of the 4 cars that are there. And they have great bottom end and easy to upgrade. Plus..... the Mid engine rear wheel drive is the best.

240 sx 155 hp FRintegra ls 140 hp FFcelica gt 140 hp FFprelude si not sure but you get the picture tons more fun to drive FR and you'll have torque over these other cars. assuming equal driver skill the 240 will beat any of these cars 1/4 mi or track.

Prelude is 160hp, 156lb-ft. It's gonna beat the 240 in the quarter...they run 15.6 stock. Most 240s run 16.0 or there abouts. They have lots of midrange power...more so than the 240. Your choice otherwise. Hondas have great aftermarket, but I wouldn't give up my car for one =)

Exactly what i said. Prelude would win.... but 240 is FR..... and rear wheel drive is the best to have.

just like everybody else said, prelude first, 240 not far behind.

the prelude si is real fun to drive.my friend had one with just an intake and it would haul *** (i havent rode in any extreme powered cars) and was a blast.i almost purchased one, because i liked his so much, but decided that a 2nd 240 was in order for me :D .oh yea, he had other things done to it ; aerospeed coiloevers, enkies, cf hood, etc.

go with the 240 make sure its a 5speed. i can prob hit 15.6-15.7 now in my auto with intake headers and exhaust. with a 5 speed def. be in low 15's. and if u eventually get a lot of power in it than u will get better traction with rwd

having a standard transmission does not add .5 seconds on your 1/4 mile..just had to verify that.

from what i heard u lose alot of power with the auto and if u have a 5 spd with a short shifter .5 off the 1/4 shouldnt be a prob

1995 Integra GSR

The last year of the OBDI, generally reagrded as the quickest of the 3rd gen Integra's. Not as much torque as the prelude but it's a lighter car.

Forget the LS's, sure you can put a VTEC head on it (Frankenstein motor) and turbo the hell out of it but what's the point. If you want to go fast in a 1/4 mile get a beat up 280z and put a 350 crate motor in it and be done with it. You'll have an 10-11 sec car for under 5 grand.

Don't drag FF cars, it's silly. Why contrain a car that was made for twisties to 1/4 mile straight line runs? It's completely missing the point of the car entirely.

You might also consider a 1996 (or any 2nd gen for that matter) Ford Probe GT. 2.5L V6, 164hp stock. Extremely fun cars to drive and one of the best handling FWD cars period. I had a PGT for 2 years and loved it. Had it been a 5-speed, I'd have kept it.

Anyway. From that list I'd either pick the Prelude or the 240, although the VTEC Integras aren't too bad, either.

240 since it's RWD. :)

if he wants a straight up stock car the mx-6,or probe same thing, is okay. fairly quick stock and very good handling for fwd. But as far as upgrade potential theres not much. you can get a klze and thats about it. the 240, or lude has far greater potential. also an automatic mx-6 is bound to screw up at any moment, how did you live w/ that thing

Probes/MX-6s have extremely sh*tty automatics. I had an aftermarket transmission cooler and added an ATF treatment to my fluid and I was aight, but yes, I did have slippage problems around 90k and a refusal to go into reverse. After the cooler and treatment, I had no more problems.

As far as their aftermarket goes, yeah, it's a bit limited, but there's really nothing you can't get for them. Your options are just a bit smaller than for other cars. There are a couple of Probe/MX-6 only places out there, the biggest one being Probesport Racing Development... PRD sells about anything you'd want for the cars. But GReddy, Borla, Pacesetter, etc have products for them as well. Just takes a little more looking than, say, for a Civic. ;)

can you really come to the conclusion of which car would have the faster 1/4 mijust by looking at the horse power?isn't there more things in consideration?, besides all being manualI read that the 240SX was geared more for "smooth" acceleration, and that when they were designing the car, they were targeting an older range of drivers.--------------------------------------------240 sx 155 hpintegra ls 140 hpcelica gt 140 hp

weight is an issue as well im fairly certain the celica is the lightest and the hp rating isnt correct and the lude is the heaviest.
