My car threw a check engine light and read it as a speed sensor error. I looked through the FSM but couldn't find a specific location as to where the sensor is at. I searched but didn't get any specific information. I jacked up the car and found what appeared to be three sensors on the passenger side. Two of the sensor leak gear oil when pulled out, and the last is all the way towards the top near the shifter mechanism. Am I correct in believing it is the last one? I found a diagram showing the speed sensor harness but not the exact location? The last sensor is on the tailshaft housing all the way towards the top. If needed, I can take a picture to help verify.

Note the sensor at the driveshaft is the signal generator for the actual speed sensor in the speedometer. Most nissans when throwing this code have a bad speedo head.

Speedo head? Do you mean by the actual gauge cluster? Can you elaborate a bit?

The speedo head is the speedometer portion of the cluster. It comes out seperatly.
