It was converted to manual by the previous owner. this trouble for trans range sensor startin popin up a couple months back. The first time i got the code read, i got a code for the knock sensor and p0705, and the guy told me i din't have to worry about the p0705. I fixed the knock sensor and apparently my o2 sensor went bad. I got the code read again and the guy jus erased all of it and told me to wait and see what comes bak. O2 came back after a couple days so I got that fixed. Then a couple days later the trans range sensor came back up. I erased it again, and it took a week to come back. It seems to return at about 150 miles after being erased.
Everyoen at autozone tells me its nothing to worry about, and a lot of my friends are telling me that trans range sensor should be for auto's not manual, but my trans is manual and my ecu is for manual. I have to take emmissions test in like 2 weeks so is a big problem to fix? or should I just get it erased, drive 75 miles and get tested?
if you have an ECU from a manual S14, the ECU will look for Neutral Position input and 5th gear position input. You need to wire those 2 sensors directly to the ECU. Your car was auto and it never had those wires running from the fusebox connectors to the ECU. Of course, those sensors aren't needed for anything. However, I'm not sure what you mean by "Transmission Range Sensor". As far as I know, manual transmissions don't have that and the ECU shouldn't be throwing that code if it's an ECU from a manual S14.
