1996 240sx... Need a push in the right direction

Well i found a 96' 240 with 122k miles on it, Im unsure about the owner maint. records etc because im going to check it out tomorrow, but it has

Stock motor122k milesExhaustNew rims + tiresCold Air

And he wants $3,900 for it. If I get the car, ill try to get it for $3,500 and then have $2,500 left over. What could I do as far as safe hp on the high mile motor, also I dont want to turbo it with a KA turbo and then still might blow it up even if its low boost.

Get a spare and build that up. KA's are a dime a dozen, just browse the classified section. Take your time with it, and be patient.
