i get a high-pitched squeal in the high-RPMs in neutral as well as drive, even when the A/C is off.

everybody i've talked to about this says it's probably a belt, so this morning i check them out. they all look pretty good to me, they all seem to be pretty tight (and not too tight).. but when i was looking at the pulleys, i saw this:

-------------------------------------

(the warped section, incase the arrow was unclear)

i don't know if this could cause a squeal in high-RPMs, but if so, can someone tell me which pulley this is so i can replace it?

ALSO: i have a check engine light on, with no obvious driving/functionality problems. when i went to autozone to have the code read, the OBDII scanner didn't catch any codes. he couldn't even turn it on. i've never heard of this, does anyone here have any clue? maybe the two problems are connected?

i tried to search these two problems, but to no avail. please help

AC compressors isnt tied into OBDII the only involvement is bumping idle when u turn on ac. The light maybe shorted to ground or power im not sure on how the light is activated. Might want to try someone a little more knowledgeable with scan tools pull codes for you. As far as the compressor pulley, that notch it has i would say would cause premature belt wear. How sure are you the belts are good? Are they glazed, meaning shiny and hard surfaced? Are they cracked at all? Have you recently replaced it?Could also be the idler pulley making the racket.Worst case scenario I would say compressor is causing your noise, but u should check the most obvious first.

one more question

i want to check/adjust my timing, but to do so, i have to disconnect the TPS harness, and i can't find anywhere that tells me where it is aside from "above the throttle" which doesn't say much.

apparently i got a code that isn't recognized anywhere:

7-5-9-3

well the TPS is located on the throttle body normally opposite of where the throttle cable goes. On SR20's its a brown connector. im not sure if there the same color on KA24's but as the location goes thats the only thing i can tell you. If you want to see the exact location i would suggest looking through the FSM. So good luck on ur search my friend its pretty easy where it is though.

ok, had my codes checked again at autozone.

and this time they came up with two evap system codes

P0440 andP0446

anybody had these problems before? the guy was telling me that dealerships have something that cleans out all the charcoal in your fuel system or something like that, EVAP systems are completely new to me.

if anybody has had these codes come up before, please let me know, i'll search them up in the meantime
