So a while back, I was caught out in a huge storm and flash flooding. I had to drive through a puddle that ended up splashing lots of water into my engine bay. The next day, my car was throwing 8 or so codes and wouldn't idle at all. If the revs dropped below about 1k, it would just completely die whether I was in traffic or not... leading to some dangerous driving.

I finally found out that after everything had dried out, that the remaing problems were all due to the 10 amp engine control fuse on the drivers side fuse panel.

After replacing it, all of the codes were gone and everything was wonderful for a long time.

.... Until about 4 days ago. It might be a coincidence, but my car was parked during a large thunderstorm one night. I did no driving whatsoever. The next morning.. I went to turn my car on and it stalled and the "check engine light" came on. So, I checked the 10 amp fuse and voila... it was blown.

After replacing it... all was well again. Then suddenly a few days later after no storm, no water, no nothing. It stalled, check engine light came on, and fuse blew.

I replaced it again... and it was fine. Then an hour ago I went to drive to the store and it blew AGAIN. I am now suspicious that something terrible has happened to a circuit involving this fuse. Possibly a bad ground? I dunno.

I'm guessing nobody will know exactly what is causing this problem, but maybe someone will have some ideas as to how to trouble shoot. Thanks.

Well, first thing I'd do is pull ecu codes just to make sure (the cel could just be on because you are in the "ON" position and car hasn't started - an emissions thing). You can find that by searching or looking on 240sx.org faq.

Also, if you do a little , someone else had your same problem.

Thanks for the post.

I pulled the codes before ever realizing it was the 10 amp fuse. I recognized that that was the problem from the codes it threw. It threw 6 or so. Mostly dealing with emissions system parts.

However, the EGR solenoid was definitely throwing one or two codes.

I'll have to take a look at it to see if this is the problem.
