Hi,

I have a 1995 Nissan XE Truck 198,487 miles on it. The check engine light came on about 5 days ago or so. Drives good .
Any help on this would be highly appreciated.

Thank you, Jim.

Jim - welcome to the site. Couple quick questions. What engine,2wd,4x4,auto, manual??? Lot of possibilities. The best thing to do to narrow the issue down is to take the truck in and check to see what engine codes are being displayed. Most major brand parts stores provide the service for free. NOTE: When ordering parts make sure you bring the Vin. number with you.

The engine is the 2.4L. I went to the local auto parts and there diagnostic testers are for OBDII starting for 1996 cars and trucks.
They said mine is OBDI. I saw a video where the computer which is under the passenger seat had a green and red led flashing, you also had to be in the correct mode. You had to remove the passenger seat to do this. Does anyone know anything about this? Seems like a lot of work just to read a code. I have a 6 pin blue connector that hangs below on drivers side.

Thank you, Jim.

The 6 pin on the drivers side should be the one. IF you plan on keeping the truck for any length of time a Good investment would be to purchase OBD 1
