So, I now have 185k on my pathy. Still going strong. Just some normal wear and tear stuff (water pump shat the bed on me on the highway last year, cables from the battery corroded through and killed the car for half a day, etc) Nothing huge.

Now my suspension. The car rides great. Always had. I know when my father in law looked at it he noticed the front suspension on the driver side was low. Took it to his shop and raised it. etc.

I also know the rear shocks are starting to go. And the front looks low again.

So, I am curious about total replacement suspensions. Maybe a little more performance oriented.

Anyway, any info, prices, links to stores online with the parts, etc. woudl be most appreciated.

If the suspension on this truck is just shot and no real alternatives to it...might be time to have to look at something else

Check out http://www.4x4parts.com. They have a sway away torsion bars which are pretty good from what some of my friends have told me. As for the shocks, the rancho rs5000s seem to be a popular choice among people.

Thanks.

They sell complete suspension packages.

But why would I want rancho over bilstein and vice versa? And what with a 3" lift with 1.5" coils give versus a 3" lift with 3" coils? I'm trying to find the info on the site, but it seems to be geared towards people who are truck savvy. I'm only car savvy.

My only other question is how good would air suspension be? It'd be cool to be able to lower the truck to get gear in, but not if its really going to compromise the ride quality.

I would stay away from the air suspension and keep it coils.... reliable, safer, and cheaper. unless, you are building a show truck that you want to scrape around a parking lot while you bump music....

You don't have to buy a complete lift kit if all you want to do is beef up the suspension. Buy new torsion bars for the front and you can either get new coils for the rear or get some airbags that go inside the coils in the rear. Pump up the airbags and the rear end stays stiffer, with the option that you can air them down and get a softer ride. New shocks help stiffen the ride, but don't help ride height.
