I just bought a 95 Q and the transmission is slipping very bad in foward gear, but in reverse, it will grab and move quickly. The car has been sitting for about a year when i bought it. i was told that the car needs to be run for a while and then driven, the car has been sitting due to a wreck that it was in (front end), i just replaced the radiator and put 7 quarts of ATF dexron mercon 5 in the transmission. i am kinda new with the Q45 so please help. thanks Ryan D.

P.S. I originally posted this under my uncles name, ( mattd1979) because i didnt have an account myself.

Maybe so, but you only need to post one thread.

I guess what we don't understand is upon what your expectation that the transmission would work is based? Wrecks that severely damage the radiator have enough force to do some serious internal damage to the transmission if it is engaged when the impact occurs.

i dont understand, the car runs great, the impact pushed the radiator support in and crushed the radiator, at first, when i added trans fluid , the transmission acted normal, but i let it be for about ywo days and it would barley move in foward gear.

Do to no cooling fan, I was unable to run the car more then 5 minutes. I checked the level cold with the engine runningand it was just under halfway up the stick (over the full mark).

You need to use Dextron III not mercon...

i hoe you didnt dump in 10 quarts into the trans.. The trans HOLDS 14 quarts but it only holds about 4-5 in the pan itself! the rest is inside the trans...
