1995 q45 will not start

my q will not start i am thinking its my starter relay...is there a way to "hotwire" per say to get me out of a parking lot until i can get to a car dealer to purchase a new relaythank you for your timejoseph

About all you can do is bang it good with a hammer to see if it is then free to work. Might as well replace it if it is on the dealer.

Yeah... bang on it with a lug tool or hammer while someone holds the key in crank position.

You need to describe the symptoms a little further though.

i put a new relay on it ran for a minute.......i had aaa tow truck come out to tow and he simply banged on the starter while i held the key in the crank position?it started right up...but failed to start again this morning....do starters go out often?

i have a 1995 q45

Depends on the number of miles per start and the number of milliseconds each start requires. { ambient temp and oil viscosity and cleanliness }

My 1990 still has original starter after 315,000 miles [17 years] that's about 22,000 starts how many have you used in your 1995?

Each start removes a miniscule amount of motor brush depth so failure is when not if.

Joseph....I had the exact same problem with my 94 Q, did the same things your doing. You can end your headache now by just installing a new starter...

Q starters rarely fail but you can be sure that you have found the source of your problem. Mine is still cranking fine after 216K... maybe time for me to pick up a spare.
