1995 Q45 Temperature Control (A/C) Malfunctioning, But Working. My car was built in the fall of 1994, so it has many 1994 parts. Under 90K miles.

Some years ago when the A/C control was not working I replaced the circuit board behind the glove compartment. However, I don't remember what the problem was in the past and I cannot find any old post about it (I have used several log in names, as I keep forgetting what I used in the past). Currently, the illumination of the control panel looks normal (it does not go out - mentioned in other posts). The A/C does work, so that is not the problem. Temps registering seem reasonable most of the time. But I have always had a day here and there, when the ambient temps did not make much sense. So not certain what to make of the temps being off a bit more often now.

Problems:
1. Blower often goes way too fast and adjusting it manually does not always work.
2. I often turn the engine off at some of our long stop lights to save gas. I usually only turn the key part way towards off. However, the blower does not stop now. It did in the past. I have to turn the car all the off to get the blower to stop.
3. With the engine off, but key turned part way to Acc on, I have variable problems with the climate control fan. This predates the current issues by several months. In recirc mode, the blower would usually not turn on at all. In fresh outside air intake mode, the blower usually worked.

I do not use the car a lot. Due to air travel, it sometimes is not used for a week or 2. The above issues are new over the past month or so. I am worried that my problems will likely get worse. If I just need to replace the circuit board again, so be it. If folks think the trouble lies elsewhere, ok - but what should I do? I cringe at taking the car to the local steal er ship in New Orleans - due to multiple issues with them in the past. Some weird control panel issues before the alternator went out 2x in the past. But all of this seems different and no weird lights come on at the dashboard.

Any assistance appreciated. Thanx in advance - from The Big Easy

Hoo boy.

Climate control stuff is way out of my wheelhouse, but I'll get some of our tech guys in here.

Here's a few past posts on the topic:

Yeah really!

It might be helpful to try to narrow down individual issues... like the ambient temperature reading abnormally. Your post throws so many variables into the mix that it's hard to know where to start. I know there's a pull-a-part in New Orleans, so you might keep an eye out for a 94-96 to go snag a module for next to nothing and try a swap... I would put it through the self diagnostics in the factory service manual, to see if it throws any codes or shows anything abnormal. If you don't have a copy, it's available at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

The climate controller appears to have a buffer that keeps the displayed ambient temperature from changing quickly. I will see 80F on mine when I back out of the garage on a hot 95F day, and it won't catch up to the outdoor temperature for several miles. Turning the car off and on repeatedly might be messing with all of this as well... I think I'd just leave it on and enjoy the air. The couple of $$ you save on gas probably don't offset the additional engine and starter wear.
