Hello - Hope this is posted to the correct Forum, sorry if too detailed:

I have a 1995 Q45, 70K, that may need a new set of fuel injectors or fuel pump and/or a fuel pump controller module in New Orleans. I think the current one is going bad and have already had 3 trips to the shop - they think the fuel pump may be the problem. Roughly $650 to replace it, about half of cost due to the cost of the pump itself. If the problem is with the injectors/pump/fuel pump controller module, would either a used or non OEM one be ok?

Currently, the problems:Low revs 250-750 at a stop sign, then occasionally cuts out unless I double pedal while pressing the gas.Usually worse when the gas tank is nearly empty or going uphill, less often a problem with a fuller tank of gas.Sometimes the car acts like a "bucking broncho", wanting to go fast and then wanting to stop or severely slow just a few seconds later. The sudden slowing action even happened today while driving about 60 mph - that to me seemed dangerous.NOT a constant problem -this is what seems so weird to me and my mechanicHigher revs at a stop in neutral (around 1k) than in drive (usually around 750 now). I think the revs were at about 1k previously, but a bit less in neutral previously.Sometimes the exhaust fumes are really "stinky".

When this all began - in late February - I have added some techron, instantly better, though still bad (almost 2 months ago).Taken it to be fixed 3 times: cleaned out throttle body (it was sticking) and fuel injectors (?manually and/or with chemicals), replaced fuel filter (which was "tight"). Spent just over $200 so far at the local shop. Prefer to avoid the local dealer due to a bad prior experience.

I drive the car less than 100 miles per week. Only about 1 1/2 miles on the highway most days. After the first trip to the shop, even if the engine cut out, it restarted quickly. That is probably why I have been able to put up with the problem for so long.

Thanx in advance

seriously go to the link above and look specifically (about mid way down on the page) at the items you mention. They will point you in the right direction.

btw...order all your parts from Joe @ Everything Infiniti....huge OEM discount compared to what your mechanic or dealer can get the part for.

You spent over $200 and you still don't know if it's the pump or the injectors? That's criminal. Have the fuel pressure measured while the car is acting up. If the pressure is fine, then suspect an injector leak (from a bad seal, not a bad injector). Unlikely cause, but check the MAF connection just for the heck of it.

Tank should be refilled when it gets to ¼ full as fuel acts as cooling agent for motor. In NoLa, I would be using Iso-HEET every other tank, expecially as little as you are driving it.

And lastly, you are not saving money by spending it on someone who is unfamiliar with a G50 Q45. The dealer may not be the answer, but your present shop is not either.

How close are you to T-3? Might be your best bet for resolving what I am sure are several deferred maintenence items.

No mention of MAF sensor connection is a real red flag.
