Hey all. I have a 1995 pathfinder that I've owned for almost 4 years now and for the past year I've been fighting this random vibration that will come and go on the highway. I've changed tires multiple times, including different rims, I borrowed a friends tires off his pathy to no avail.

I've changed:

-tension rod bushings
-upper and lower control arm bushings
-all shocks, ball joints, tie rods, centerlink and idler arm.
-all swaybar links and bushings
-checked engine and trans mounts
-rear link bushings

It's weird because I will drive on the highway for a bit and its fine then it comes and shakes the whole truck not just the wheel or seat. The only thing I can think of is the universal joints may be binding but I'm not willing to just change them in this freezing cold weather if it's not the issue.

It drives awesome when not doing this. Also sometimes at low speeds it feels wobbly like say when your slowly moving in traffic it sometimes does it a bit, yet none of the rims are bent and the tires are balanced perfect (swapped with another truck). When you look outside of the truck while its moving the rims don't look like they're wobbling either.

Thanks in advance

Are the tires round? Many times I 've gone through this after buying new tires only to have them balanced 55 times and discovered the tires are not evenly round.

Also tire balancers are not equal and if the balancer is off so is your wheel assembly. When did the company last test their tester?

Try using balancing ceramic beads inside the tires instead of wheel weights

Yeah the tires I have on it now are perfect. I put them on my buddies 95 and it was as smooth as glass at all speeds. I've ruled out tires at this point.

Settle down both of you. If you have nothing constructive to add, then don't post please.

It could be your driveshaft. Do these cars have a one piece or two-piece design? Im not sure but on cars with a 2-piece drive shaft, it is common for the center carrier bearing to wear causing the driveshaft to vibrate

Nah it's a one piece drive shaft. I still haven't done anything about it but I know I should.

Too all others, I came here from npora to see if anyone had any other insight about my issue. I didn't mean to start a pissing match, but now I know why my friends have told me this place sucks. No offense to the others who have been helpful but the ones that haven't have soured my experience.

Well it sure sounds like you have done a lot, and if your alignment and balance checks out with those new suspension items I would think drivetrain vibration.

Driveshaft u-joints / balancing
Transmission or motormounts (even if they look ok at sight)
Converter/flexplate / clutch flywheel.
Differential

I'm not sure I would have to see and feel it in person. Thinking back I had an issue similar and it was a wheel bearing.
