I felt my car dying so I had to restart it several times one day.

The next day the car ran fine for a while but died and had a very
hard time restarting. I unplugged the MAF connector while the car
was running and the car ran better. When I plugged it back in the
car would die

So I put in a new MAF and the car ran great! It did generate a code
saying it was the MAF which I cleared later with my code reader.

Glad you got your problem figured out.

My daughter's 97 is having a problem where the engine will die when coming to a stop only when the engine is cold. I'm hoping that a new MAF will take care of the problem.

The engine doesnt just die immediatly when the MAF is bad. I have had two go bad. You start to give the car gas and it doesnt react and starts to lose RPM-you can feel it. You can restart the
car most of the time but dont depend on driving it very far.
