Working to prevent the dreaded PO400 from coming back
Success on correcting my error-To replace the pipe I have to remove the plenum/upper intake manifold for access
The top compression nut of the pipe is screwed in between the engine and firewall close to where the exhaust manifold starts
I used a 15/16" crowfoot and a 1/4" ratchet and a 8 inch cheater bar
(if you can find one, you MIGHT get an extra long 15/16" wrench)
You have to get the tools positioned so you can get a cheater pipe on the ratchet and it is
a little time consuming
It broke loose very nicely and I was able to unscrew it by hand after a couple of turns with the ratchet
Screwing the compression nut on the EGR valve (the other end) was easy
I used anti-sieze on both fittings
Also on the EGR-BPT valve I put on some hose clamps and extra electrical tape on the hose to ensure
an airtight fit. On the EGR-BPT valve, if you blow in the bottom tube, there is a little bit of resistance/pressure
to overcome-which means it is good. The EGR valve I put on was new (since I crossthreaded the old one too on my first shot)
What I FORGOT to do, after getting the top compression nut off, was to run a wire to clean out
any carbon that might have accumulated at the entrance of the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe
(as far as possible

-maybe it won't matter.) Also I could have run a cleaning wire on the exhaust manifold
after taking off the EGR valve itself. I was just so fixated on getting off the tube I forgot.
