Always worth checking into :yesnod ... But I just don't get the feeling that is the cause. It only takes 1/16" depth of water to hydroplane a vehicle. Given that and his environmental explanation - need I say more?

True, but in 16 years of driving 240s I've never really hydroplane that bad. I've felt a couple twitches at highway speed but not at taking corners/turns. Haven't been sideways unless I was pushing it/wanting to be.

Exactly. Consider he describes a tight turn with water running across the banking of the road. Traveling too fast in this situation is most likely what caused him to spin out; not the 240 itself. I don't know where he's getting his information on close calls and traction issues; this is not Toyota ... eh, I mean epidemic. :gapteeth:

Well a lot of teenagers post up that the 240 is dangerous to drive in the rain, probably due to them driving.
