Can someone help me with why my 1995 Nissan 240SX is hesitating. I took it and had a diagnostics ran and the mechanic said it needed a new mass air flow sensor. But in search for the part online I found that the Mass Air flow sensor will not cause it to hesitate. Not a lot of money to keep buying parts and not fix the problem.

Sounds like a maf, diagnosied as a maf, did you have the codes checked?

Could also be a o2 sensor, intake / vacuum leake, timing, plugs wires, etc

Replaced the wires and had the timing done. Not sure what codes came up....the mechanic just said it needed a new MAF but the research that I have done and found that the MAF would not cause it to hesitate.

So the ECU not knowing how much air is coming into the motor, and sending that info to the ECU so it can select a fuel map and verify and correct it off of the 02 sensor cant make it hesitate.....? Yeah I would re-think your theory.

So your saying it is possible that it is the MAF.....If so then will try it.

Yes, a MAF will cause those problems...
