I was wondering if someone could please tell me if there is any special trick to replacing the upper chain tensioner other than removing the valve cover and front cover? Once you are in there, can you simple remove the old one and bolt in the new one?

Thanks for any help.

I think you be able to do it but i think you have to remove the fan and the fan shroud maybe loose the water pump belt and remove the distribuitorbe carefull with the timing you can put it in top death center so you can put it in the same position it waswith the tensioner be carefull when you loose the bolts because it keepsome force caused for residual oil pressure or the spring on it dont let the tensioner fall in to the engine so if you are not be able to take it out you have to remove the front cover of the engine (oil pump) and that its a lot of extra work... if your car still have the tensioner guides in the upper part of the aux. timing chain remove it as well the right chaing guide, this are not necessary at all (NISSAN TSB )

Nah its a pretty strait forward job. If you use a pin to keep the piston(tensioner) pushed back it makes things a lot easier.
