I have a 1995 Maxima...problem is it will start fine and run great...at timesI will drive approx. 4 - 5 miles and it will stall...it will crank over fine but willnot fire...I will have to crank it over around 30 - 40 times before it starts agian...i have brought it to a garage & they can't tell me anything because by the time they look at it, it will be running fine...once it would not start & they told me it had weak spark...but in the a.m. it started fine & ran great.the only other problem this car has is the shifter will lock up....i do have toreally work at it to get it out of park...i don,t know if this is related in any way, but I am afraid to drive this vehicle, because of fear of getting stuckin the middle of an intersection like yesterday....took it to a garage & they could not figure this out....please help.

If a car is stalling it can be any combination of three things. It's either spark, air delivery or fuel delivery. Since the shop you took it to said it was getting weak spark, I would start there. Are you getting a Service Engine Soon light? If so, take it somewhere and have them read the code. If the code is for a misfire, I would find out which cylinder is getting the misfire and then take and swap the coil pack for that particular cylinder with one from one of the other 5 cylinders and see if the misfire changes to that cylinder. If it does, replace your plugs and coil packs. If it still does it, move on to air and fuel delivery.

I would definatly take a good look at the crank sensor. NSR is correct you need to see if there are any codes stored in the ecm.
