I think my compressor is dead but need to confirm;1)Anybody hooked up manifold guages to this generationto check their AC compressor (Calsonnic v6)?2) Has anybody tested or replaced a thermal expansion valve?3) Whats the best way to check for leaks?

On my compressor, my low side has about 27 PSI and the high side is only showingabout 75 PSI with AC running. Both of the lines are running hotor warm going into the firewall. The air cond is set on recirculation inside.The water c*** is working ok as the temperature changes to warmer whenthe inside control slides over to hot.

From reading the FSM, the thermal expansion valve could be theculprit but I dont want to take out the dash unless I could diagnosethe symptons better. From what I am reading, the only other alternative isto blow air into it to unstick or open it.

I think my next step, BEFORE opening up the system, is to depressurizeand excavate all the gas/fluids, repressurize with leak detector, and checkfor leaks.

Any wise advice, including dont try AND why, would be appreciated Its hot in Dallas now!

i had a similar problem when i got my max. the ac full blast was blowing hot for about 60 miles driving home from the dealer (total 500 mile trip one way) and then it got so cold all of a sudden that i gad to turn it down. when i bought the car the dealer said it doesn't work so i went to wal mart before going home and bought a $20 bottle with a pressure gauge on it - when put it on it showed that the system was fully pressurised so i figured maybe a clog? or maybe just some problem with the clutch on the compressor. anyways do what you plan on and maybe take pics and do a write up?

Will soon provide some good data on this but right nowI was wondering if anybody has experienced this;

My high side on my AC compressor is only putting out 155psi which is very poor. Could it be possible the clutch is onlypartially engaged?
