Alright my delema is the front main seal leaking all over the place, Since we 240 lovers that like to fix things on our vehicle instead of letting someone else take our glory and $600 labor and $6.75 for the part. I would like to know can someone tell me how to change out the damn thing and what else I should look for she only has 160,000 mile and I want her to hit the famous 000,000 marker. Any help would be appreciated

Click here, go to "Timing Chain", scroll down, and read.

I dont think so but is it nessasary to remove the time chain? Or follow just the sections where it tell you front cover removal.

Yes, it is a detailed description of removal/installation of that area of the engine.

If I was already going that far into disassembly (and at 160k), I'd definitely go ahead and just buy/replace the entire timing chain assembly kit (gears, chains, tensioner, seals all included)...I'd replace the water pump and oil pump while I was there, too.

But, no, you don't have to...
