i have 95 j30 with 1117500, had it about 2 years now , love the car but if the car been sitting in the garage for about 2 days or more during winter time or cold weather, i always having problem to start the car. i know it's not the battery because it has about 12.5v before start. it just crank and crank won't turn over, when it did i have lots of smoke coming out the muffler and it stinks and vibrate wont' idle for about 30 second or so. I did 90k service at dealer at 95k, did timing belt, waterpump, tensioner at 104k, change oil and filter with mobil1 syn every 3k. Second problem heather won't blow hot air if below 85 degress on climate control. How often do you flush the transmision. Please help, thanks

Sounds like the engine is becoming flooded somehow because those are the exact symptoms: Turns over for longer than you'd expect it, then lots of smoke when it does catch and runs rough until the unburnt fuel is finally cleared out. You might have a leaky injector(s) drippling fuel into a cylinder(s) as your car sits there. If you are doing quick on/off cycles like you might when moving the car on the driveway for instance, this can cause the flooded/hard start condition. When you encounter the hard start condition, mash the accelerator to the firewall and hold it there until the engine begins to catch. This will get things going much more quickly.

Don't know what is going on with your climate control except to hazard the guess that you could be low on coolant or your thermostat is toast. This could also be related to your hard starting.

Have you done a transmission pan drop and filter change? The rule of thumb around here is to change the ATF at the earliest sign of colour change. Changing every 30-40K. These trannies aren't bullet proof but seem to hold up relatively well with aggressive maintenance. (knock wood)

No doubt other J owners will chime in with more and better info than me.

Welcome to the best damn car site on the web.

You have 1,117,500 miles on your 95 J30??? Just kidding. It sounds like bad injector/s. What color is the smoke (White, Blue, Black)? Here is a post that might help...

As far as the Heater is concerned, sounds normal. If you're as impatient as I am, you crank it up to 85 regarless if you want heat.

Transmission service is suggested every 30k. Some people suggest every year. There is no real rule of thumb here. As Vimy said, if you see color change and or debris, then it's time to get some new lube in there. Hope this helps somewhat, keep us posted on the progress.

You're like my wife. She thinks the house heats up faster if she cranks the thermostat up to 80F and the electric range heats faster if you turn it to high. I'm going to stop buying her those expensive pans cause sure as sheit she ends up burning everything and stressing out a $150 pan.

Could be a pinched/deteriorated injector seal, or a stuck injector. Might be fine after you dry it out.
