My rear speakers on the g50 I just picked up don't seem to work. Left rear is static and very faint and right rear doesn't work at all. I replaced the speakers but same problem so I want to check the wiring. Does anyone have a diagram for the Bose system? Or any clues on what it could be? Also if the diagram is in the fsm if anyone can point me in that direction thanks!

The problem with the rear speakers depends on what head unit is installed.

If it's an aftermarket head unit the amps weren't bypassed properly. It needs rewiring and you're going to have to search the schematic in the electrical section (EL), audio portion, of the FSM.

From your thread title it's more likely that you've got the original Bose head unit, speakers and wiring. Unless your Q has been baking in the desert sun daily for the past 16 years chances are very good that it's the amps gone bad and not the speakers. A very common problem in '90s Infinitis and Nissans.

Were your replacement speakers the speaker/amp combo or just the speaker? Did you notice any aftermarket wiring when you changed them out or was everything stock? If just the speakers were changed you've handled the amps and know how to remove them. If it was the plug-in speaker/amp combo (amp is in the black case on the rear) someone sold you a set of speakers with bad amps. For the next time around if you're only changing out the amps it can be done from the trunk without removing the back seat.

I have working amps for sale if you're interested:

Thanks. Replacement speakers are aftermarket and no amps back there. Previous owner had a sub box in the back and he pulled speaker signal from the rear speakers. So I removed his wiring and tapped into the plugs for the rear speakers. If I put in amps or an aftermarket amp to run te aftermarket rear speakers is that an option or do I need to upgrade the head unit also? The fronts sound good so I would like to keep them if possible but I need some rear fill. Thanks!

So you have the factory head unit with aftermarket speakers in the rear?

Just by way of background - the factory system had individual amplifiers on each speaker fed by a weird line-level output from the head unit. So it will be difficult to mix and match speakers and amps. You could possibly use an external amp and line level converter for the rears, but if you're not trying to customize the sound, I would just find some used rear speakers and amps. The amps are prone to failure and need to have the capicators replaced - so finding some that have already been rebuilt would be a good idea.
