Sometimes, at idle or when cruising on the highway, the battery and brake warning lights (the two red lights in the lower right of the gauge pod) slowly come on and off. They come on slowly, then dim out, then slowly come on again and stay on.

Weird thing is, if I turn the blower on at full blast the lights go off and stay off. AC on or off doesnt make a difference.

What the heck is going on? Ship date on the Exide battery is August 2003. Terminals look pretty darn clean.

Thanks.

Also, the Bose amps whined under acceleration, so I bypassed them and connected the HU directly to the speakers.

Could that have been caused by a failing alternator?

The AC/alt belt was squealing on startup, but I never heard it make any noises under normal acceleration. I tightened it anyway (it felt fine) and so far the problem hasnt duplicated itself. We'll see.

I saw the lights again, briefly on startup. When I hit the throttle they went off.

I'm going to post a picture of myself with a dinosaur and see if anyone notices.

Sounds like a failing alternator... those are the same lights that flicker when there is a low voltage situation.

I left the headlights on, which ran the battery down requiring a jump start. After that, I made it 700 miles home with absolutely no symptoms.

What the heck...
