1995 G20 Check Engine light

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Need some assistance, check engine light came on so I headed to Autozone to have them scan it. The tech there said "no can do" apparently their scanner only works on 1996 or newer. I'm looking at the book and it says that there is a scanning tool you can use. Now I feel as though I am between a rock and a hard spot. What do I do now? Car is running okay but have experienced some idle issues and its died a few times.

Thanks for your input in advance.

You may have to do this the old fashioned way. There is a diagnostic screw on the ECU. You have to turn the screw to put it in diagnostic mode, then turn the key on and count the flashes of the check engine light to get the code.

The scanner ought to work anyway since, as stated above, OBDII equipment started on G20s in 94. Look for a port under the driver's side of the dash (I think).

Yea, you should be able to use an ob2 reader. Check the fuse panel

find teh connector and when you see the good ole obd2 tell that prik at autozone to hand you the freakin scanner and you will do it yourself

you know they take an hour to train on how to push that 1 button on the scanner.....
