The ABS light on my car goes on and off seemingly at random...I can't determine a pattern for what causes it to go on or off. The car does go through the ABS self test when I start driving so the system still functions. What could cause the light to flicker like this?

I have noticed the Q's ABS light will flicker as a low voltage indicator - say during an alternator failure. Typically that one and the red "BRAKE" indicator light will flicker at the same time...

Not sure if that's the case in your situation, but it's something to check.

No brake light in this case and the alternator was tested as good in March when the car had a no start condition.

From what I understand though a failing alternator would be indicated by constant flickering of the warning lights for both the ABS and parking brake. The parking brake light only comes on when the parking brake is engaged, and the ABS light only comes on for a couple seconds at random but glows steadily. I'm thinking loose connection or bad wheel sensor. Either way a Nissan dealer is looking at it on monday.

Okay a Nissan dealer looked at it and it wasn't registering any codes (and apparently they didn't have the ability to run further tests). The light also comes on steadily (no more flickering) after you start driving the car (not always immediately, sometimes after 5 minutes or so). Bad wheel sensor?
