Recent purchase so I do not have much history. OD didn't seem to work right on my short test drive , but I am a fair shade tree mech and thought I would take a chance as the price "seemed" right!

Have come to find that transmission will shift to 4th with moderate acceleration and will down shift to 3rd with hard acceleration, but will not stay in 4th going down hill or at idle. Shifts back and forth. Along with that, I find that if I manually shift from "D" to 2nd it will not shift back to 3rd until I go into neutral and then "D".

Been told that it will take between $2.2K and $3K to fix! Double Ouch.I pulled the valve body out, disassembled, inspected, cleaned, installed a 3/4 shift kit, new seals and gaskets in accumulators and servos. Replaced the Line Pressure Solenoid, checked the fluid sensor (500 ohms to 3500 ohms), verified operations of all solenoids, reassembled and tested. Guess what? Maybe shifts a bit better, but still does the same thing.

Oh yes, replaced the coolant temp sensor. I will take it out and tear it down if I have to. It just doesn't feel like transmission trouble, could it be the TCU or anything else??

older nissan electronics dont seem to fail (TCU, ECU, etc)... You may check the TPS voltage..

Assume that TPS is Throttle Position Sensor? I have swept this for resistance, but what should I be expecting to see in the way of normal range voltage? Where is the best place to check?
