Can someone tell me more about the condenser that is attached to the distributor of the ka24de. I have an auto trans and I am having problems with the car starting when it has been hot. Thought it might have to do with the condenser, the engine has 180,000 miles on it.

For example I got in the car today and drove to lunch. Had lunch, went to leave and tried to start the car. The car would barely run. RPM at about 200 with my foot to the floor and then it just quit. I cranks, so that is not a problem. I opened the hood to get some of the heat out, started the car, started running at 200 rpm, it then caught and I reved the engine to 3000 a couple of times and then it was fine, idle no problem. This is always how it goes. Now that it is hot here, I am in Florida, this is what it will be like for the rest of the summer.

I have gone through everything that I could regarding what is suggested for hot start problems, and tested all of the sensors as suggested without finding a problem. I think though now it might be something with the distributor, condensor.

Any Ideas?

i think your on the right track. but i dont believe the condesor is the problem. the condesor is like a cusion or a shock absorber. resistance dose increase as the temp increases. id deff. check out the coils youve got quite a bit of miles on it and if your ignition is all origonall its a good chance your coils are pooped have you looked into any possible fuel problems any codes???

Fuel seems to be okay. I have not checked any codes. Is the coil hard to replace?

The coil seems to be intrigated into the distributor. So if the coil is bad then I am going to have to change out the distributor. Either way, this is expensive. Does anyone know the code for a bad distributor or error code for the coil?

didnt say it was cheap lol it may not throw a code. is your engine light on?? theirs a way to check your coils and see if they are good. you need a multi meter tho. do you have one? and this only happens when its hot right??

I have a multimeter, and the check engine light is not on. Though I do not think that the check engine light works. How do you check to see if the coil is okay? When the engine is cold the engine starts fine, when the engine is hot, it does not want to fire on all cylinders. It will start out on two, then if you are lucky it will catch, you can then rev it to about 3000 and then it will be fine. If it does not catch, you are stuck opening up the hood and hoping the the engine will cool.
