Alrighty guys, I've got a 1995 Altima with a passenger axle that's got a cv joint that's a goner. Got a new axle to replace it, anything I should be wary of or any tips before I jump into the madness? Oh it's an automatic transmission.

nope pretty much goes like this. Remove 3 12mm bolts holding axle at carrier off engine block. Remove 2 bolts and nute holding strut to spindle. If you have abs undo the 2 10mm bolts holding abs wire to strut. remove clip holding brake line to strut. remove 36 or 32mm nut holding axle to hub. knock axle out of hub and slide axle out of car. install in reverse order.

DONT beat on the threaded portion of the axle! put the nut on and use a brass hammer. the threads can be fixed but its not fun. its a very common newbie mistake. but it wont happen to you cause your not a newb. if the axle dont want to slide out of the carrier, get it to spin a little. then you can whack the "ears" with a prybar and a hammer.

Awesome thanks guys! Yeah the altima's my sisters car so I don't want to risk my life if I mess it up. Ha ha ha. I checked out the service procedures and they're saying to pull the drivers axle and to whack out the passenger axle with a long tool and thought that was ridiculous.

Chris, you're always the man when it comes to pointing out my previous mistakes and reminding me never to make them again. Yeah the nuts will be around before giving em the ol' heave ho. I even got a new nut to cover my derriere. Looks like it won't be too bad.

thanks again guys you roxors my boxors!
