Howdy SX guru's. I got alot of questions.

First and foremost, I recently purchased a 1995 240sx. Great car, looks good, and dust's every honda who dared to revv their tiny little weed wackers on steroids. heh heh.

That being said, I cant find a Haynes repair manual for this car, so I find myself seriously lacking some basic knowledge of this car mebbe you guys can help me out with.

First, what type and what is the nominclature of the motor and transmission I have in this car? (the plates are missing from under the hood, or I cant find them. They may have been painted over at one time) Also, what is the rear diff gear ratio? (This question includes abbreviations, DOHC or SOHC, so on and forth. I noticed the car has a monster air intake...whats up with that?)

Do we have HP and torque specs for this motor/transmission combo? And what are the specs of some other 240sx's of different era's?

And most importantly, my 96 hardbody pickup has a self diagnostic function with the ecu, so when the check engine light comes on, I can self-diagnose and solve the problem. Does this car have something similiar, and how would I do it, and where would a listing of the codes be?

Any links to information I need above would be greatly appreciated, and for those questions that there are no links for, someone PLEASE answere them to the best of their knowledge. Thank you.

155 hp and 160 lb/ft. DOHC (Dual over head cam) 2.4 Liter or 146 cubic inches.4.083:1 rear gear ratioIf it's the stock intake, yeah it's huge. Get under the driver's side wheel well and take off the inner fender cover plastic thing towards the front. There should be a big black box there. Take it off and the other unneeded tubing that was hooked to it under the hood. Sounds nice huh?Self diagnostics codes are in my Chilton manual I got from Oreily's auto parts store. They sell them lots of places though. Anyway, the first thing to do is take off the plasic panel on the passengers side foot well. There is a little plastic nut and maybe a clip. Now the computer is right there. Unbolt it by removing the bolts that mount it to the side and turn it so that the side that was facing forward faces you. There is a small red light on it and a screw you turn a certain way (can't remember it says in a Chilton, if you need it just tell me. I can look it up) and the light will flash a code that you then look up and find your problem.

I dont generally like handling it that way but every thing he asked has been cover a half million times. It is blatantly obvious he didnt even read any other posts on his car before posting here.

I know what you mean. At least you weren't as hard on him as a lot of other members are.

No I dont flame people as they may not be familar with the search engine on here so I just send them the link to help them out. It would be senceless to cover all the info that is already posted in other threads. I could be dedicating more time working on a thread that hasent been covered.

Sorry I dont have the time or the initiative to use the search engine functions with this site, I usually have about 15 minutes every other day to jump on the computer and do a little research. My bad for offending any forum guru's.

Between Military and Family life, plus constantly working on four cars at any given time, sorry for the lack of patience.

Thank you Nistech for the link, and thank you Scott for letting me know that Chilton does make a manual for this car. With that information, dont worry, I wont be pestering anyone around here anymore.

Thanx.

Edit: That search function is as about usefull as my nipples. Thanx anyway...
